By Craig Thompson

Chunky Rice is leaving. The small turtle embarks on a journey to find a deeper meaning in life. Chunky's mouse girlfriend Dandel supports his plans, but once he leaves she spends her days searching for discarded bottles and filling them with letters she hopes will reach him at sea. Themes of friendship and the pain of separation are amplified in the lives of the other characters. Chunky's neighbor Solomon befriends a wounded bird in search of solace for a childhood loss. Solomon's sea captain brother embraces the sea for companionship. This is an adventurous story of human connection and loss that will charm anyone who has been separated from a dear and loving friend.
